NSS Wall Construction Part 3

So Kate returned home today from the last trip to her Dad's workshop to finish up her wall for the National Stationery Show.  She brought a couple of photos she snapped with her phone to show me their final preparations before the crate took off for New York City where it will await her in her booth.  So exciting!

Kate's Dad cut some sheet metal for her magnet boards using one of her Great Grandpa's original tools.  Made in Milwaukee.  Super awesome.

More Updating - Santa Claus

So we shot our last redo photo this morning for the big NSS show coming up in less than a month.  This time: AC is Santa Claus.  Kate always liked the idea of this photo, but the first time through I wasn't really pumped about posing inside a chimney and didn't do that awesome of a job.  This time she made sure to make my chimney only have 3 walls so I didn't feel as uncomfortable.  And she did some updating to the background as well.  All in all I think it's another successful improvement.
And with that I have been rewarded with some much needed time off!  There are no plans for any more shoots in the near future as we got everything we wanted accomplished for NSS.  Hurrah!

More Updating - AC at the North Pole

This morning Kate and I shot another redo of one of our original photographs in preparation for NSS: AC at the North Pole.  This was another of the very first photos we ever took way back when Kate just used a crummy point-and-shoot digital camera.  I have to say the redo is a big improvement - other than my modeling skillz.  Those have always been awesome.

NSS Wall Construction Part 2

Kate returned from her Dad's workshop tonight with exciting news - they finished making her NSS wall!  Or at least the base of it.  They still need to paint it and put all the attachments on and whatnot.  But at least the woodworking part is finished.  Check out the photos she brought back to show me:

Big news!

NSS Wall Construction Part 1

Kate took the first of many trips to her Dad's workshop today to work on building her walls for the NSS show coming up.  Although today was mostly planning they got started on some building and Kate brought some photos back to show me.

Kate's job was gluing, stapling, and clamping the support beams together.

The floor turned white from all the sawdust.

 

There were lots of breaks to fill and smell the maple syrup cooker outside.

Kickstarter Project

Hello all!
So things over here at Kate Funk have been out of control busy with both getting ready for Kate and Brennan's first appearance at the National Stationery Show in New York this May and creating the next World's Most Super Amazing 100% Awesome Cat Calendar: Magical Creatures Edition. New Cards in Shop

Heya!  So a lot of people have been asking for the version of the Catzilla photo from this year's calendar in card format.  We finally decided to print it up and here it is.  We also put the redone version of Bon Voyage up today.  You can find that one here.  Enjoy!

More Updating - Bon Voyage

So this morning Kate and I decided it was time to redo another of our original photographs in preparation for NSS: Bon Voyage.  This was one of the very first photos we ever took back in 2008 when all we had was a tiny point-and-shoot camera with an on-camera flash.  I think the redo was a big improvement while still sticking to the same idea.  Check it out:

Heya!
So it's time for the last fair of the season: Renegade Craft Fair San Francisco!  Kate will be there in booth #149 along with Usagi Team who makes super cute animal clothing and accessories (a match made in heaven).

Renegade Craft Fair Los Angeles

Heya!  So Kate is leaving me again this morning (I decided staying under the blankets in the warm smooshy bed sounded way awesome-er) to head off to LA for their Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Market this Saturday and Sunday.  Mister Brennan, the designer of the calendar, lives out there and will be showing her around the town as it is her first time in LA - super exciting.  So if you live in the area make sure to stop out.  She'll be in booth #72 along with shop Miguez.

Renegade Craft Fair Chicago

Doin' Some Updating - Leprechaun Style

So this morning my awesome, long break from modeling came to an end.  Kate decided with NSS coming up soon we need to get cracking at the new calendar.  First magical creature up: Leprechauns.  We did this photo shoot once before back in 2008 when we first started.  Afterwards Kate made me sit down and look at the new photo next to the old one we had.  It's amazing to see how far we've come in costumes and backgrounds (my awesome-ness has stayed pretty consistent - Kate was the one who needed some improving).  Check it out: 2008 and 2012 Leprechauns.  I think the new one wins fo sho. Art vs. Craft

Heya all you Milwaukee folks - make sure to check out Art vs. Craft tomorrow from 10 - 6 at the Harley Davidson Museum.  It's a great opportunity to come out and support your local crafters and Small Business Saturday.  Kate will be there in booth #36 in the Garage.

Big News!

Kate just got word today that she will be showing at the National Stationery Show this upcoming May!  This means a super lot of work coming up for both her and I, but I think we're up to the task - so long as I still get my 23 hours a day of napping squeezed in there somewhere.
